change site to wordpress

przez ronw » Cz mar 03, 2011 10:38 pm

Hello everyone, I'm a newbie. Years ago I let a webdesigner disign a website for my bar, but I we don't do bussiness anymore and now I'm thinking about changing my website in a complete new layout and making it a wordpress site. Can anyone tell me if this is possible and easy to do or will it give me lots of headache and would it be better for me to find a new webmaster? I know how to make a wordpress site but I'm a bit of a rookie in the site rightnow. Looking forward to your advice...

It sounds like a good idea to start all over again with a new site.

I wise man once said that you should always try to do it yourself before you pay someone to do it. It might not be as difficult as you think. And even if you don't managed to it, you will know how much it's worth paying for.

And making your own website is actually both easy and fun. I would recommend that you start learning HTML and CSS. Even if you choose to use Word Press or some other CMS later, it will be a big advantage to know som basic HTML and CSS.

You can start right here: http://html.net/tutorials/html/

Good luck! And please use the forums if you have any questions.

I prefer a simple text-editor like Notepad (my favorite is the slightly more advanced EditPlus with syntax highlighting). Also, when learning HTML or CSS I would always recommend Notepad to keep things as simple as possible.

Just my two cents :)

It is pretty easy to set up a wordpress site these day. Using host like Godaday, Dreamhost, hostagor, etc, they provide easy set up solution where you don't even need to know anything HTML.

Wordpress is a lot easier to use when building a website. They have very useful plugins and themes to choose from. You don't have to be a web expert on this one.

I have several Wordpress sites and I have really enjoyed how simple and flexible they are.
I use HostGator and love their customer support. They were even able to save one of my sites that got hacked.
HostMonster is also a very well known hosting service with good customer support but I have never used them myself.
Best of luck and enjoy the creation!

Like John said wordpress is already there if you are with Godaddy. Although I like html its easy but Wordpress is very easy to use especially if you have them included by your plan provider.
